Getting the Care You Need
ONCE you have decided you need assistance at home, call us at 718-465-0555 to speak with one of our friendly staff members. We will make arrangements to match you with the services and professional staff you need. Home care arrangements can generally be made within 24 hours.
Home care services can be provided by our care staff 24 hours a day, seven (7) days per week. A registered nurse will perform an initial assessment to evaluate your needs and create a Care Plan which will guide the work activities and duties which your professional or paraprofessional staff will perform. Supervision will be done by our nurses and adjustments can be made in your Care Plan if the level of care changes
Emergency Prepardness
Being prepared for emergencies or disasters is very important in this ever changing world. Whenever an emergency or crisis occurs, there is often no time left to prepare. We are ready and equipped for emergency situations in order to reduce the emotional and physical effects of a crisis. We want to make sure that our clients are also able to successfully handle emergency situations by being prepared before the occurrence of any emergency or disaster. Knowing the items you need to have at home and having them, will help you feel more comfortable and improve chances of survival from any kind of tragedy. Having essential items will help you to cope better with disaster situations. The following are important pointers to remember in preparing for an emergency.
Be Prepared for an Emergency
Keep Emergency supplies to last for at least three days
- Water (One gallon per person per day)
- Foods that will not spoil
- Flashlights and extra batteries
- Medications and medical supplies
- Large plastic garbage bags to keep items dry as needed
- First Aid Kit
- Blankets
Check for Hazards
- Secure bookcases/shelving units etc.
- Hang pictures and mirrors away from beds and chairs.
- Secure any outdoor items such as lawn furniture, bikes etc.
- Check all exterior windows and ensure they are locked and have no cracks. Secure with duct tape in an emergency.
Stay Informed
- Keep a portable radio with a supply of batteries in case there is no electricity
- Arrange for someone to provide you with information if you are hearing impaired
- Contact Inspired Inhouse Health Care, Inc. for further instructions
Plan ways to get Help
- Keep a phone near your bed with a list of emergency numbers
- Call the Police or Fire Department to ask about help transporting the elderly and people with disabilities
- Use emergency response pendant/bracelets if you have them
Be Ready to Evacuate
- Keep your cell phone charged as much as possible and take chargers with you
- Label medical equipment, supplies, and medication
- Pack a bag of necessities
- Pick a meeting place with a friend to call in the event family is not available when an emergency strikes
- Arrange for transportation to leave the area
